How to Play Nerdle
Nerdle challenges your numerical intuition and arithmetic logic. Each guess is an 8-character mathematical calculation that must be mathematically true.
🟩 Green (Correct)
The number or operator is in the calculation and in the exact right spot.
🟪 Purple (Present)
The character is in the calculation, but in another position.
⬛ Black (Absent)
The number or operator is not in the hidden calculation at all.
Optimal Nerdle Starting Strategies
- Test Multiple Operators Early: A starting guess like
9*8-4=68tests multiplication, subtraction, and 4 unique digits at once. - Identify the Equal Sign Position: Finding where
=is located tells you whether the answer is 1, 2, or 3 digits long. - Watch Out for Commutativity:
10+20=30and20+10=30are both mathematically identical, but only one is the exact daily target.
